THINGS HAVE CHANGED:

Since I am no longer a professor in the classroom, this blog is changing focus. (I may at some future date change platforms, too, but not yet). I am now (as of May 2019) playing around with the idea of using this blog as a place to talk about the struggles of writing creatively. Those of you who have been following (or dipping in periodically) know that I've already been doing a little of that, but now the change is official. I don't write every day--yet--so I won't post to the blog every day--yet. But please do check in from time to time, if you're interested in this new phase in my life.

Hi! And you are...?

I am interested to see the fluctuation in my readers--but I don't know who is reading the blog, how you found it, and why you find it interesting. I'd love to hear from you! Please feel free to use the "comment" box at the end of any particular post to let me know what brought you to this page--and what keeps you coming back for more (if you do).

Super-quickie post

I thought, "Oh, I'll just do this one little thing before I go." This goes under the "famous last words" category. I always think I can "do one little thing"--and then I end up being late.

As is the case tonight. I have to get out of here.

Both 101s were disappointing: only about half the students showed up with essays. I heard from one or two other students in each class, asking what they should do about late submissions. The "bad news" is that it seems I've lost a lot of students: sudden, drastic attrition. The "good news" is, that many fewer essays to grade. I'll take off from Advisement on Monday to grade, but I'll only have to take the one day--and that's mostly to make my life ever so slightly easier, as I probably could get everything done even doing my usual stint in Advisement; it just would be one hell of a push the rest of the days. And, you know, why, when I can just reschedule Advisement to another time?

I still have a lot of homework to mark for the SFs students, so I can't sleep in as late as I'd like tomorrow--but I think I'm almost ready to get everything to them for the second essay, including a number of critical sources that I've pulled out for them to use. They have to do research on their own for the final essay, but this one, I'll provide the materials so they know the kind of thing to look for.

And speaking of the SF class: many of them have really taken off in terms of reading notes. I'm truly enjoying reading those.

Now, I must dash. That was a two-minute post...
